New Year’s Day was the beginning of a new formal affiliation between two New York City health organizations that will result in the availability of a broad range of integrated medical and support services in all five boroughs. In the agreement that was approved by the two organizations’ Board of Directors last month, the Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Brightpoint Health, but will maintain its own corporate identity and Board of Directors.
This affiliation reflects a national trend in health care. As a result of new health care policies, the future of service delivery is moving toward collaborations between service providers in an effort to reduce health care costs and increase the quality of care.
“CHASI has an outstanding reputation on Staten Island for its rich history, experience, and impact on the community and they are the perfect partner for Brightpoint,” said Paul Vitale, MPA FACHE, Brightpoint President and CEO. “This new relationship will provide a higher level of care for all New Yorkers in need.”
As part of the affiliation agreement between CHASI and Brightpoint Health, Diane Arneth, RN MPA, CHASI Chief Executive Officer, will become a member of Brightpoint’s senior leadership team and named Executive Director of the organization’s Staten Island services. Over the next several months, an integration plan that will strengthen and enhance services and operations will be developed and implemented.
“For over 25 years, CHASI has worked tirelessly to provide comprehensive services to Staten Island’s underserved communities,” said Diane Arneth, CHASI President and CEO. “Our partnership with Brightpoint is the beginning of an unparalleled expansion of programs and resources to Staten Islanders. We are pleased to move into the future knowing that our clients have access to dynamic, comprehensive, and quality health care and related services.”
